This year’s IFAT took place in Munich from May 4 to May 7, 2026 and, for the first time, was held over four days instead of the usual five. This adjustment clearly proved successful: both the quality and number of visitors confirmed the effectiveness of the new format. We look back on four highly successful trade fair days.
With 3,400 exhibitors from 60 countries, around 142,000 visitors, and a total exhibition area of 300,000 square meters, IFAT once again underlined its position as the world’s leading trade fair for environmental technologies.
The ESE Booth: Prime Location and Strong Presence
Our 300 m² ESE booth, located in a central and highly accessible position in Hall A5, was without doubt one of the most attractive stands at the fair. The open and inviting stand concept, combined with high‑quality internal catering, created an excellent atmosphere for meetings and discussions.
Particularly popular with visitors were our by‑now traditional RecycleBAR and the outstanding barista, which once again attracted many guests.
Highlight: Product Launch of the New 1,100‑Litre CL Container
One of the absolute highlights of the trade fair was the market launch of the new 1,100‑litre CL four‑wheel container.
Displayed on two presentation pedestals were:
• the 1,100‑litre container with the new CL lid
• and the version with the specially adapted SplitLid®
Supported by our sales teams, visitors were able to test the handling of the containers live and experience first‑hand how ergonomics and manoeuvrability have significantly improved in all directions. Our unique selling points – ERGOSTOP®, ERGOSTEP® and ERGOGRIP® – were received particularly positively by customers.
An exclusive animation and a real‑handling video on a large screen further enhanced and supported the product presentation.
PWS Portfolio: Impressive Versatility
On the opposite side of the booth, PWS presented its comprehensive product portfolio.
Many visitors were impressed by the wide range of DuoSelect® and QuattroSelect® containers, including the lid‑in‑lid and FlipLid® lid variants.
The variety of possible combinations generated strong interest and led to numerous in‑depth technical discussions.
Steelteam Olpe: Focus on Lithium‑Ion Safety
Another major visitor attraction was the Steelteam Olpe area, focusing on the highly topical subject of lithium‑ion battery safety.
The following products were presented:
• an ASP hazardous goods container
• the Retron Box
• and, as a special highlight, the large Retron container for transporting and storing a lithium‑ion car battery
The internally illuminated container, which could also generate smoke effects at the push of a button, created a strong visual impact and was regarded by many visitors as one of the most spectacular exhibits at the booth.
Further products showcased included:
• a range of litter bin solutions
• from the Drive‑IN family, two ErgoFill® containers (240 L) and a 120 L container garage
• as well as the 7 L and 23 L Kitchen Caddy
Conclusion
IFAT 2026 was a success for ESE in every respect – technically, strategically and atmospherically. A strong trade fair presence, exciting product innovations, intensive customer discussions and a highly committed team made these four days a real highlight.
